Gospel Is Not Dead

In today's world , people are looking for more than the Daily News , or the latest fashions. It seems that in this day and age, people are desperately searching for the spirit of God , hoping to seek him wherever possible. Sometimes it is common for people to find that spiritual connection that they've been looking for , through music............" gospel music ".  During these past few weeks , a new underground gospel artist has emerged from the streets of Bronx , NY. Najestique (Wilkins) , is a gospel singer and lyricist who is passionate about the word , and spreading the gospel to every living creature in sight. A prolific writer from Buffalo , NY, she began writing these spiritual and uplifting hymns of praise when she only 10 years old. As she got older , the songs turned into personal testimonies to the testament and power of God in her life. Since that time , she has poured her heart and soul into making music with a " holy ghost " power. Most recently , she has recorded and released  a posse of songs under a musical guise called " The Boutique ".  The Boutique is supergroup of artists that come from Queens , Brooklyn , and Yonkers, NY. For Najestique , it is a blessing to be working with an array of talented artists and engineers who are dedicated to this music effort. Just a few days ago , Najestique unleashed a brand new group of artists and songwriters on her mixtape " Compilations Of Inspiration ( http://soundcloud.com/najestique/sets/mixtape/)". The mixtape includes an illustrious group of young artists who are just as passionate about God , christian rapper " G.M.A.N " from South Africa , Rapid Fire from Clinton Arkansas , and R.O.D. from Dallas Texas. The mixtape deals with subjects that may be too graphic for certain individuals , such as child abuse , spousal abuse , drug abuse , and gang violence. One song in particular spoke to me. It is called " Not My Own ". In this powerful vignette , a man tries to pressure his girlfriend into having sexual relations before marriage , but knowing that she is a child of God she stands to her beliefs and morals. If you have been looking for music like this and haven't found it , it's because it didn't exist before Najestique. The gospel music industry of this generation is no longer focused on spiritual direction , but more so of the world. Gospel has been spoiled so much , that there is no longer a distinction between it and wordly music. Coming up in this day and age , people need to know about the salvation and the works of Christ. He wasn't just a man who died on the Cross , he is everything you'll ever need , and that is just the type of message that you will hear in Najestique's music. She has once again proved that nothing is impossible with God.
